The launch of the Travelling Bug House
Halloween saw the launch of the Travelling Bug House at TASCOS Social Club in Stirchley. We kicked the night off with two shorts (see picture, left) from local film-maker Scott Johnston, aka Film Ficciones, which set the mood and went down really well, before we settled into watching E.T.
In the interval the pumpkin competition winner was decided by Councillor Nigel Dawkins, which was no easy task as there were some pretty scary and inventive offerings. The winner received 4 tickets to our Christmas screening, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, on Sunday19th December, and some halloween sweets.
The films went off without a hitch (save for one forgivable, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it miscue) and we’ve been told that it was a welcoming atmosphere, and that we delivered a really cinema-like experience, which we’re really happy about.
We’re looking forward to our next cinema date, ‘North By Northwest’ above the Three Horseshoes on 25th November at 7:30pm, which we’re sure will go down really well.
If you haven’t been in touch and were there, we’d like to know how you thought it went: we’re new to this so we’d really value feedback on what we’re doing right or wrong. Even if you weren’t there we’d like to know what films or kind of films you’d like to see at a community cinema. You can add a comment on our website under this post, or email us.

We’d like to thank the Working Neighbourhoods Fund, and the lovely people at TASCOS and7inch Cinema for their help and support.
